For those wanting to support local theater, here's the rundown for this weekend:
Iowa City Community Theatre is staging "Cinderella," featuring, among others, our own brand-new Iowa blogger, Dweeze.
Just in time for the holidays, ICCT presents a new version of the timeless children's classic. Cinderella dreams of escaping her drab life, and gets a taste of what her world could be when she attends a glamorous ball. But will it last? Will time run out? Will her dreams turn to dust? Of course not! With convenient early Saturday afternoon performances, this Cinderella is aperfect fit for the whole family. And who knows? Santa Claus might even be there!

The Press-Citizen "Go" Section has the story here. Cinderella is being played by Elise Vaux, who did a wonderful job as Kay in Father of the Bride last year. It should be a cool kid's show.
City Circle Acting Company is running The Santaland Diaries by David Sedaris.
Acclaimed Iowa City actor Tim Budd returns in last years near-sellout crowd-pleaser "The Santaland Diaries." Based on one of the most-loved NPR features in the stations history, this one-man show tells the story of an out-of-work actor attempting to make a life for himself working as an Elf in the Macys Christmas Extravaganza.
Alternatively hillarious and harrowing, this is the perfect tonic for those suffering from holiday burn-out--a delightful evening for those who like their hearts warmed with plenty of ironic flare.
Tickets are available in mid-November at J. Hall Keyboards, the Coralville Recreation Center, and by calling 319-248-1750. Advance purchase is recommended as this has proven an audience favorite. Come find out why for yourself.
"The Santaland Diaries" will run December 3, 4, 5, 10, 11, 12, 17, 18, 19. Friday and Saturday performances at 8:00 pm. Sunday at 2:30 pm.
All shows at the Stephen Arnold Circle Studio Theater, 213 E. 10th Street in Coralville Iowa. For further information, please call 319-541-2980.
Tim Budd is, of course, incredible in this - they brought it back "by popular demand". It's also a Sedaris piece, and so guaranteed to be hilarious. What more is there to say?
I should also plug No Shame Theater, for the more adventurous. The premise: actors show up on Friday 10:30 with an original script of no more than five minutes in length. The show starts at 11:00, with the powers-that-be setting the line-up by drawing names from a hat. No rehearsals, no rules other than the piece can't damage anyone or any part of the theater. It costs a buck to go, and the show is guaranteed to be unusual. Sometimes good, sometimes weird, but always entertaining. I did this once or twice in undergrad, and it's a blast.
